Mariana Fouts

Certified Instructor

ISR

Hi, I’m Mariana! I hope to swim with your family soon!

Meet me:

Hello, my name is Mariana Fouts.

I grew up in Mexico City. I  moved to Dallas when I was 17  and attended El Centro College to learn English. My husband and I have been married since 2016 and we have three beautiful girls, we currently reside in Garland, TX. I began teaching swimming lessons in 2005 when my oldest was young because I knew her safety around water was critical! For 14 years, I was a nanny and also swimming instructor. I was introduced to Infant Swimming Resource by someone asking me if I teach Self Rescue, Then I started to research until I found my Master Instructor, Heather Isle. She taught my daughter ISR and I was in love with the program so I decided to become an ISR instructor myself.

Joining ISR has been such a challenge for me, but at the same time exciting since we are part of one of the most highly trained swimming instructors in the country and around the world. We go through a rigorous training on Psychology, Physiology and behavior science and sensorimotor learning in completion of 60 hours supervised in water training. We are also have to be recertified annually to maintain our skills current. Additionally, I’m an Adult/pediatric CPR and First Aid certified and Water Safety Instructor (WSI) by the Red Cross.

5 Important Keys to Water Safety:

Effective supervision

Pool fences. Self locking gates and at least 3-5 feet from the pool edge.

Alarms

Survival Swimming Lessons (ISR)

Parents and other family should know CPR

Autism

Children with autism are often drawn to water, making them 160 times more likely to die from drowning. Drowning is the leading cause of death in children with autism, compared with the general pediatric population.

Therefore, it is imperative that children with autism learn survival swimming skills ASAP. This is why I decided to get certified by The International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES), and specialize in Aquatic-Autism teaching skills.

According to the Autism Spectrum Disorder Foundation (ASDF), swimming can also help children on the autism spectrum improve speech, coordination, social skills, self-esteem, and cognitive processing.

Please contact me for more information about swimming lessons.

I am excited to work with these special children!
